I have (perhaps foolishly) acquired a Sony NAS-CZ1 from eBay, which doesn't have the M-Crew software CD with it. I now realise that the product is all but useless without that software, and none of the links that I've found via Google work anymore (Sony have removed the software from their website for. OK, so I bought it cheap on eBay, I have a Sony AV Receiver with the digital port this thing slots into, and thought.why not give it a go for streaming music from the PC. So, I have configured the wireless network on the NC1, no problem, installed the M-Crew software (2.5), registered the NC1 with the software.so far so good. Clearly the NC1 can see the network and the M-Crew server can see the NC1. My problem lies with getting the NC1 to see the 'server', it just doesn't find it.

If I run Tversity on the PC, the NC1 picks it up no problem, so clearly connectivity isn't the issue, it just won't find the M-Crew server. I have enabled the numerous applications associated with M-Crew server in my security software (ZoneAlarms) but no joy. Any ideas, anyone?

I've had the NAS-CZ1 for a year and a half, but I've not yet managed to get it to work with M-Crew server. I'd never have chosen this machine - it was a present - but now I have it, I'm determined to make the.!!. thing work. The problem is with M-Crew server.

I've tried installing it on two machines. It came with version 1. That crashes towards end of install.

I've downloaded version 2.5; that installs ok, but encounters a problem and crashes every time I try to run it (the tray icon starts up ok and it says the server is running). I've spent the whole weekend trying various things and searching the net. Nobody else has reported the problem although the concensus is that m-Crew is rubbish.

Maybe no-one else bought the NAS-CZ1 - I wouldn't blame them! Just before I put it on e-bay, has anyone solved this problem or does anyone know of another server that will work with it? Probably the most disappointing and annoying gadget I've ever had.

Oh yes, I'm running XP pro SP2. Cheers for any advice, I hate being beaten and this is driving me mad. Sony Make some or the worse software ever seen. I have one of these units and trying to find the right environment to install the damn thing on is a tricky business. I ended up using MS virtual PC 2007 and Installing XP with SP3, all the updates and nothing else on it except the Sony software. It seems to work ok now and I see there is a new update to the software on the Sony site.

The unit is also meant to work with other PNP software such as media player, Philips Streamium and torrent software such as Suze. Sometimes it picks it up and if you're lucky you can even get it to play a song. But soon after it crashes. Also, make sure you are installing from a local drive, not a network drive or the install crashes.
