Jan 04, 2012  I have been cleaning out Dad's tool shed, He had a Black & Decker 11/16' super-service valve refacer type T, It is very complete with a bottom cabinet full of stones and other stuff, So here is where i could use some help, There are no manuals with it. I need to know where to find an instruction Manual for this unit so i can learn how to use. Jul 23, 2011  I have a Black and Decker valve refacing tool I bought used a long time ago. The only info on the tool is '5/8' valve refacing tool' and 'serial # B1381. Hatsune miku clock widget download desktop. I'm figuring it's at least 50 years old. Basically all there. I'd like to find a smaller collet, the drive belts (there should be 2-both are missing), and a manual.

Hi, I was at my local scrap yard today cashing in some scrap aluminum and some other metals. And I spotted this table top Valve Grinder, which one of the guys working the yard told me I could have if I wanted it. Its in pretty decent shape all of the adjustments work, I need to replace the cord. I think one side is missing some parts, but the other has a wheel which is in good shape. I am wondering if anyone has a manual or further information on these. It is a 11/16 Super- Service Valve Refacer Cat No: 550 Type: P Serial: 2183580 It has two electric motors.

Black And Decker Super Service Valve Refacer Manual

ThanksJonathan. I have a B&D valve refacer too and I need to fire it up to do a couple antique heads or I should say valves. Mine appears to be a bit older than some of those pictured but I've noticed over the years that Black and Decker made a lot of minor changes to these things as the years went along.

Both of the motors on mine have individual power cords that plug into their own single recessed receptacles that are installed in the back of the base casting. I replaced all the wiring on mine, using the original old plugs and switch, but my receptacles are falling apart. I've got just enough to piece things together from my scrap bin but I'd sure like to find a pair of those receptacles so I could complete the restoration correctly.

(Don't have the number handy). The receptacles are two prong as are the plugs, but 2 of the plugs have a green ground pigtail protruding from them to connect to a ground screw. Mine is one of the 'red' ones. I found enough literature over the years to allow me to operate. The also made a lot of attachments for refacing lifters, rocker arms, etc.

The one thing you need, though, is the diamond stone truing attachment. Kid, I think your machine is close to mine. It has 2 indivudal motors and and a small round coolant pump.

Is the ID tag a 'winged Black & Decker emblum' size 9/16 type LW? From what I can gather these were made in the mid 30's, I haven't been able to find out much on mine, Blacker & Decker customer service hasn't been too helpful with this machine, since it was made before they started using catalog numbers, this only has a type number. What info have you been able to find on yours?

This is the 2nd machine I have, the 1st one(the one I started the post about) I sold at a swap meet, it needed alot of work. I just came in from the garage after using my own machine for the first time. I fixed up a Fairbanks Morse ZA 3 hp 1920 head, and an antique marine engine head got it's valves refaced. My real project for the valve refacer and seat grinder set is another marine engine head.

This must be perfect, or close to. I forgot to gather any info like serial or model number but I will do so tomorrow and a photo or two ta-boot. Right now, I only have the single stone for the valve grinder and I have to get this job done with it, period.

Black Decker Valve Grinder Parts

Also, I'm less than happy with the wiring on the work drive motor. I checked it off as okay but it needs improvement. I bought my machine out from under a collapsed garage and in Seattle, that can be bad, but I think I lucked out. I dug through a real pile of rotten crap, grease, and blackberry vines, looking for any assessory pieces and I'm glad I did because I found a few things, like a couple of diamond stone dressing tools. My only Black and Decker literature is kind of a general 'how to do valves book' and is about the same vintage as my machine.

I've been around these things for a while and recently received excellent re-training from a shop partner who does much of the big, vintage diesel valve work in the northwest. His machine can't do the little valves, and my machine will be available to him. My thinking is that the seat grinder is a steeper learning curve.
